In Denmark, two Compact wine fridges are built into the side of the island, their doors aligned with the kitchen fronts. Their dimensions were drawn up with kitchen designers: they slip into the grid of the units without distorting it, beneath the worktop. Side by side, they allow two separate settings, a white kept cool on one side, a red ready to serve on the other. Service happens within arm's reach, between preparation and table.
